Dr. David N Smith, Medical Director, is a published author, national lecturer and Yale-trained physician-scientist certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease. After a successful NIH basic science fellowship and Epidemiology training at Columbia University, he moved to Charlotte in 2009 to practice as an invasive cardiologist. He holds active professorships at Yale University, Wingate University and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He also is the principal investigator of multiple trials involving cardiovascular disease, diabetes and smoking related disease. He currently works at Premier Cardiovascular Care through the Personalized Integrative Preventive Cardiology and Vascular Medicine, Cardio-Wellness, and Cardio Renal programs. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Smith is a martial artist, musician and a devout family man to his wife and four busy scholar-athlete children.
Camilla Leonard, Physician Assistant, completed her undergraduate degree at Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC. She attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA where she earned her MPA. Her background includes medical esthetics and plastic surgery. She is a member of Piedmont Association of Physician Assistants. Camilla has had a passion for flying and dance since a young age. She hopes to motivate her patients to utilize their interest in eating healthy and fitness to establish a healthier lifestyle.
Britney Tutchton, Medical Assistant, attended Seminole State College in Sanford, FL for her EMT certification. She currently holds certification in first aid, emergency medical technician, and firefighter I & II. Her past experience is in emergency medical services and urgent care. She has worked the past 2 years as an MA in an urgent care setting. Brittany plays softball on a co-ed league and enjoys spending time with her nieces and family. She is originally from Florida but relocated to NC in 2016. Brittany feels being active is an important factor in her weight loss experience and that balance is the key to success.
