Medi-Weightloss® Hockessin Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Hockessin, DE Medi-Weightloss® Hockessin recently celebrated their one year anniversary on February 23, 2017.

Since opening in Hockessin, Medi-Weightloss® has helped patients achieve their goal weight and lose over two-thousand pounds. Known as The One That Works!®, the Medi-Weightloss® Program is a three-phase lifestyle plan in which medical professionals supervise and support patients in achieving their goals. On average, our patients lose 6.4 pounds in their first week and 14 pounds their first month. +

Obesity continues to be one of the world’s fastest growing epidemics, with more than one-third of U.S. adults affected by obesity. Currently, Delaware ranks as having the 28th highest adult obesity rates in the nation, with 29 percent of its adults considered obese. For many, obesity continues to be a huge health concern that can lead to even more health problems including:

  • High blood pressure
  • Dyslipidemia
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Stroke
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Sleep apnea and breathing problems
  • Certain types of cancer

We understand that it’s difficult to lose weight, as research shows only 8 percent of goal-setters achieve their goals. Each year we help thousands of patients achieve their weight loss goals, and we want to continue to guide patients on the right path towards reaching their goal weight. The Hockessin location recently has achieved a huge milestone, in helping patients lose 2,415 pounds in less than a year. To help those who are struggling to lose weight, Hockessin would like to offer some advice.

  1. Stop looking for a quick fix. Many people think the best way to lose weight is to get the weight off as quickly as possible, when in fact it takes time. To keep the pounds off it is important to make long-term changes that will stick.
  2. Identify your deterrents. It is important to recognize emotional triggers as many can lead to overeating.  Common triggers include stress, fatigue, and relationship problems.
  3. Treat yourself. Every milestone you cross, reward yourself with a new fitness accessory.
  4. Get a good night’s sleep. Sleep deprivation affects the hunger hormone, which influences your appetite.
