Lisa Dollar was born and raised in Bradley, Arkansas and moved to Monroe to attend Northeast Louisiana University (currently ULM). It was here that she received a bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education in 1988. In 1994 Lisa married Dr. Mark Dollar and within 7 years, they had two children, Lauren and Drew. After nine years of teaching, she became a stay at home mother. When Lisa’s daughter, Lauren, was 20 months old, she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and Lisa’s focus in life completely changed. Lisa started taking diabetes education classes and CME courses with her husband so she could learn all that she could in nutrition and diabetes care.
