Ruppert Hawes

Ruppert A. Hawes, M.D., is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He has been an active member at the local and national levels of the American Academy of Family Physicians, as well as the National Medical Association. Dr. Hawes received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Denison University and he completed his Doctorate of Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Hawes then completed his residency at the Richland Memorial Hospital, University of South Carolina Family Medicine Residency Program in Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Hawes completed a Fellowship in Academics and Obstetrics in the Department of Family Medicine at Highland Hospital, University of Rochester, in Rochester, New York. Dr. Hawes has previously served as the Chairman of the department of Family Medicine at Capital Health, in Trenton, NJ. Dr. Hawes also has been appointed to the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Office of Minority and Multicultural Health, Member of the Health Advisory Commission. Dr. Hawes has frequently been invited as a Grant Reviewer and Panel Chairman by The Health Resources & Service Administration, Division of Independent Review, in Washington D.C. Furthermore, he also has served as Vice President for his family owned specialty advertising company with primary responsibility in servicing the pharmaceutical industry clients. Dr. Ruppert A. Hawes, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. His key Interests in medicine include medical and patient education, women’s health, preventive medicine and effective practice-based integrative care which is evidence based. This holistic approach to patient care includes providing patients with care plans that embrace nutrition, exercise and science based weight management. While his career has been primarily focused on primary clinical care, but he also has considerable experience in academic medicine, hospital medicine, executive/administrative medical affairs, utilization management, regulatory and governmental affairs as well as providing urgent care services.
